Meet Our Founder
Zack D. brings a unique blend of hands-on experience and academic expertise to the HVAC industry. He holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering, specializing in Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics, along with an MBA from Northeastern University. As the CEO of ACACOS and a professor of HVAC and Physics, Zack combines leadership with deep technical knowledge. With over 20 years in ventilation and air quality, he has built his career around machines, automation, and creating healthier indoor environments. An expert in operations, Life Cycle Cost Analysis, and Total Cost of Ownership, Zack is also an active ASHRAE member who contributes to multiple industry roles and publications.
Our Story
Have you ever dealt with a contractor who promised you one thing and delivered something completely different?
Yeah — so have we.
Our family owned a restaurant, and when the walk-in fridge broke down, we called a string of “technicians.” One said it was the compressor. The next swore it was the thermostat. Another claimed it was just low on gas. We were frustrated, confused, and still without a working fridge.
That’s when we decided to roll up our sleeves, lean our education and real-world experience, and fix it ourselves. After all — a master’s degree in thermodynamics has to be good for something, right? And you know what? It worked. First the family’s walk-in, then the neighbor’s AC, and before long, people we didn’t even know started calling.
That’s when it clicked.
We’d found our niche — our calling.
So we made it official and launched our company. And ever since, we’ve built a business on doing things right the first time, the way it should be.
One difference you’ll notice with us — we actually listen. It doesn’t mean we’ll always agree, because we bring years of experience to the table. But we’ve learned that listening often gets us to the right solution faster. And sometimes, you just want it your way — and how could we make that happen if we weren’t listening?
